Description
N-ACETYL SELANK AMIDATE
For Research Use Only | Not for Human or Veterinary Use
Description:
N-Acetyl Selank Amidate is a doubly end-capped analogue of Selank, the synthetic heptapeptide tuftsin analogue. Two modifications distinguish it from the parent peptide: the N-terminus is acetylated and the C-terminus is amidated. Both caps remove a charged terminus that exopeptidases recognise, and terminal capping of this kind is studied as a route to greater resistance to aminopeptidase and carboxypeptidase degradation and to altered membrane permeability. The underlying Thr-Lys-Pro-Arg-Pro-Gly-Pro sequence, and therefore the pharmacology under investigation, is shared with Selank; what is being studied here is the effect of the end-capping on stability and exposure rather than a different target.
